According to the regional governor, an oil pipeline ruptured in western Ukraine on Saturday, wounding nine persons, including four children, and starting a sizable fire.
Svitlana Onyshchuk, the governor of Ivano-Frankivsk, wrote on the messaging app Telegram that four of the injured people were still in serious condition. The oil flow has been stopped and the fire has been put out.
In the Telegram post, Onyshchuk stated that it was "known that a loss of pressure occurred in the pipeline, which led to a leak of oil products and the fire, which spread to a private house."
Pictures that were published on Ukrainian media showed thick clouds of smoke rising from the accident scene.
